The murder of Iryna Farion: the suspect’s lawyers requested to change the preventive measure for Zinchenko
The lawyers of Vyacheslav Zinchenko, who is suspected of murdering linguist Iryna Farion, have appealed to change the preventive measure for their client. However, the Lviv court did not grant the appeal.
This was reported to RBC-Ukraine by the spokesperson of the Office of the Prosecutor General, Nadiya Maksymets.
"Due to the principled position of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, the Lviv Court of Appeal kept the 18-year-old resident of Dnipro, who is suspected of the premeditated murder of the public figure and Member of the Parliament of Ukraine of the VII convocation Iryna Farion, in custody," Maksymets reported.
She emphasized that earlier the Halytskyi District Court of Lviv extended the suspect’s preventive measure in the form of detention without the possibility of bail. This preventive measure was insisted upon by the prosecutors.
However, the suspect’s lawyer appealed this ruling and requested its cancellation, proposing a preventive measure in the form of round-the-clock house arrest.
Thus, following the session, the court rejected the lawyer’s appeal and upheld the previous preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail.
