A bill on motivation for military service was registered in the Verkhovna Rada

Ukraine continues to come up with ways to encourage citizens to join the army. Yes, a bill on motivation for military service was registered in the Verkhovna Rada. However, for now there is no text.

The corresponding document was published on the parliament website. It was registered on February 13 .

The bill fell under the heading "security and defense". Its author was People’s Deputy from Golos, Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko.

There is no text of the document yet. However, Kostenko himself spoke about it. Among the main provisions it will include:

  • Increasing the level of motivation of the population to join the defense forces for military service.
  • Establishing payments to military personnel and commanders for the destruction and capture of enemy equipment.
  • Military personnel who, during martial law, undergo military service for at least 12 months, of which at least 6 months take part in hostilities, receive an official salary, a salary according to military rank, and a bonus for length of service with a coefficient of 1.5. For those who served at least 24 months, at least 12 of which while participating in hostilities, the corresponding coefficient = 2.

At the same time, for those who after February 24, 2022, entered into or extended a service contract for a period of at least 3 years or until the end of martial law, one-time cash assistance is provided. In particular

  • soldiers - 120,000 ₴
  • sergeants and foremen - 160,000 ₴
  • officers - 200,000 ₴

In addition, for those who have the right to resign from service due to family or health reasons, but have expressed a desire to continue serving, a monthly additional remuneration of 10,000 UAH. Also, anyone who has served for more than 36 months will be eligible to receive a business start-up loan with a rate of up to 5%. The right to a mortgage for housing at 3% for a period of up to 20 years will be available to everyone who served for at least 36 months (of which at least 24 in combat), those who continue to serve are wounded, but have the right to release, were released from captivity, as well as those who was unable to continue his military service due to injuries.

The bill also introduces an additional list of grounds for demobilization at the end of service if the military does not wish to continue it. In particular, in the case of continuous service during martial law for 36 months or for 18 months of continuous service during martial law, of which 12 months carrying out combat orders.

The document provides for the right to preferential customs clearance of cars for those who served in military service after 02/24/2022. This right will be introduced by separate bills on amendments to the Tax and Customs Codes of Ukraine.

State funds will be used to establish lifelong life and health insurance in private institutions for military personnel who have served at least 36 months (of which at least 12 were combat), as well as for those released from captivity. The insurance coverage will also apply to families.
