On the outskirts of Kharkiv, about a thousand fragments of missiles fired by Russian troops at the city and region during a full-scale war are stored. Each of them cost the aggressor country $3-7 million.

This place is called the “cemetery” of Russian missiles, and it is the largest of all that have begun to form in Ukraine since 2022. It was shown on video by DW correspondent Roman Honcharenko.

“There are about a thousand Smerchs, Uragans, S-300s and other types of missiles that Russia launches at Kharkiv,” he noted.

Ukrainian law enforcement agencies collect them as evidence to later be used in trials. This also applies to criminal proceedings for war crimes of the Russian Federation, which are being conducted in Ukraine, and for the preparation of cases for the International Court.

Press Secretary of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office Dmytro Chubenko added that this kind of cemetery contains fragments of not only enemy missiles, but also attack drones. In particular, parts of kamikaze drones of the Shahed-131/136 type.

“All these missiles cost millions of dollars. All cruise missiles – X-101, X-55 – cost $3, 5, 7 million. And these missiles strike the city and region,” he added.
