In light of Russian terrorist attack in Kharkiv, Zelenskyy called on partners to make long-term decisions

Against the backdrop of a new Russian war crime in Kharkiv, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called on partners to put an end to Russian terror. This includes solving our long-range capabilities, adequate support for our Defence Forces and air defense systems for Ukraine.

The Ukrainian leader spoke about this in his evening address to Ukrainians on August 30. He noted that rescue operations are continuing in Kharkov in places where Russian bombs fell.

"Unfortunately, there are casualties. Among them is a child. A girl named Sofia. She would have turned 15 this fall. My condolences to all her family and friends," the head of state said.

There are also many wounded at the scene of the terrorist attack, Zelenskyy said. Everyone is receiving assistance. He thanked everyone involved in providing assistance and supporting Kharkiv.

"These are terrible, vile Russian strikes simply on residential buildings, on a city park. Russia will definitely answer for all its evil. But everyone in the world must remember that not allowing evil to act is the most effective tactic. We need decisions that can be made by partners - namely those countries on which it depends whether we will have the opportunity to destroy Russian military aviation exactly where it is based, where the elimination of these terrorists and their aviation will be most effective," the Ukrainian leader said.

He is confident that such decisions can bring the end of the war closer.

"Because the most important thing for Putin in his wars is terror against civilians, it is intimidation and mockery of people. This is how the Russian evil came to Syria, Georgia and Ukraine. They have the same tactics of terror everywhere, and we need to put an end to this. This can be ensured by our, Ukrainian long-range capabilities, the corresponding support for our Defence Forces and the air defence system for Ukraine.
