Ukraine has resumed the production of ammunition for firearms

The Ukrainian defense-industrial complex has begun manufacturing 5.45×39 mm and 5.56×45 mm caliber cartridges for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the "Telegram" channel "Pro Zbroya", reports "Militarnyi".

According to the information, the blog authors published photos from the range where the 5.45×39 mm caliber cartridges of Ukrainian production were fired. The packaging indicates that they were manufactured in June of this year.

According to the labeling, the cartridges are equipped with bullets with a full metal jacket weighing 4 grams. The tail part of the bullet has a rounded conical shape, which should positively affect ballistic characteristics and shooting accuracy.

The authors of "Pro Zbroya" noted that the ballistics of Ukrainian cartridges when firing at a distance of 400 meters resemble the characteristics of Soviet army cartridges 7N6 (5.45 PS).

"Militarnyi" emphasized that after the occupation of the "Luhansk Cartridge Plant" by the Russians in 2014, "UkrOboronProm" lost its capacity to produce ammunition for small arms. The restoration of production is an important event for the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex.

It is currently unknown how localized the cartridge production is. Most likely, the country only manufactures shells and assembles the cartridges from ready-made components. However, complex processes such as gunpowder manufacturing and capsule insertion are unlikely to have been mastered by the Ukrainian defence-industrial complex.
