People’s Deputy Yuriy Kamelchuk decided to leave the party "Servant of the People" after the parliament’s vote on renaming more than 300 settlements.

He announced this on his Facebook account.

The deputy criticized the decision of the leadership of the Rada to change the name of his hometown Chervonohrad to Sheptytskyi.

"Yesterday there was a behind-the-scenes conciliatory council of factions. Today, a meeting of the State Administration Committee was held. Yesterday, there were 333 settlements in the decree. Today, there are 328. Five will still be discussed. Unfortunately, Chervonohrad was not among them," he wrote.

Kamelchuk noted that he asked to be given the floor during the discussion of the decree, but his request was ignored.

"And, you know, I even admit that the community was ready to accept the process of renaming, but on one condition - the involvement of the community in this process. But instead, in response to numerous appeals and thousands of signatures, democracy is being bent?" he believes.

The People’s Deputy stated that "he cannot agree with such an attitude of the leadership of the party ’Servant of the People’, so he submitted a resignation letter."
