Ukraine has joined NATO exercises to counter UAVs for the first time

"For the first time, Ukraine joined the NATO exercises dedicated to countering drones," the statement reads.

More than 450 representatives from 19 NATO countries and three partner countries participated in the annual Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems Technical Interoperability Exercise (C-UAS TIE). In the Netherlands, from September 10 to 20, participants were able to test the ability of counter-drone systems to interact seamlessly. "This year, Ukraine participated for the first time together with representatives of the private sector and the scientific community," the Alliance’s press service noted.

"More than 60 systems and technologies for countering drones were tested in real conditions, including sensors, drone-on-drone targeting systems, jammers, and cyber interceptors," the Alliance reported.

Ukraine’s participation in the exercises is a part of the Ukraine-NATO Innovation Cooperation Roadmap, approved at the Alliance’s Washington Summit. It is noted that exercises like C-UAS TIE offer a unique opportunity to jointly address pressing issues, including the autonomy and operational compatibility of unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as the exchange of Ukrainian combat experience in countering small UAVs.
