The director of a music label has been charged with fraud amounting to 1.5 million hryvnias

The director of a music label has been charged with fraud amounting to 1.5 million UAH after it was discovered that he understated the number of track plays and payment amounts to the wife of the late musician Andriy "Kuzma" Kuzmenko.

After the artist’s death, his rights were transferred to his wife, who signed a contract with the label, under which she was supposed to receive 70% of the revenue from track plays. However, the label collaborated with a foreign company that appropriated up to 85% of the revenue.

According to the cyber police, an examination confirmed damages amounting to 1.5 million UAH. The director of the label has been charged under part 4 of article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (large-scale fraud), which carries a penalty of up to 8 years in prison. The case is being overseen by the Office of the Prosecutor General.
