The number of casualties in the war in Ukraine has been named by NATO
The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Alliance Mark Rutte stated that since February 2022, the number of casualties from the full-scale Russian-Ukrainian war has exceeded one million dead and wounded.
Rutte made this statement in his speech in Brussels on December 12.
The NATO Secretary General emphasized that the war in Ukraine leads to new destruction and deaths every day.
"Every week, over 10,000 (people) are killed and wounded from all sides in Ukraine. Over a million casualties since February 2022. Putin is trying to erase Ukraine from the map," – said the NATO Secretary General.
He clarified that Russian losses amount to 700,000 people.
"The situation on the front is changing slowly and at a very high cost for the Russians. They have already lost 700,000 people (killed) and wounded. This month is a record for the number of Russian losses," – said the NATO Secretary General.
Rutte noted that Putin’s aggression is not following a new pattern, but NATO allies have not reacted to it for too long.
